1) Usability and Price – The Humon Hex has been designed with the athlete in mind. The Hex is small, lightweight, and comes with a comfortable strap to be worn on the leg. It does not require adhesive tape to be worn or a light shield to block out sunlight. The cost of the Hex is $295 whereas the Moxy is listed for $819.
2) Accuracy and Clinical Validation – The Hex has been clinically validated by a study at Harvard Medical School. It has shown to be 96% accurate when compared to the gold standard bench-top tissue oximeter. The study also showed that the Humon algorithms were able to accurately identify lactate threshold power. To our knowledge, no other muscle oxygen sensor has been clinically validated. There have been other academic studies that show that other sensors, such as Moxy grossly overestimates the SmO2 range during exercise.
3) App and Insights – Beyond the accurate data, the Hex provides personalized colored training zones in real-time to help prescribe and optimize your workout. Humon also developed mobile and web apps to provide post workout analytics seamlessly and integrates with platforms such as IQ Connect, Training Peaks and WKO4.
